Festus Keyamo Petitions SSS, IGP Over Threat To Kill Him By Tompolo

Popular lawyer, Festus Keyamo, has written a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the State Security Services, over an alleged threat to his life by Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (Alias Tompolo).

Below is the letter dated Wednesday, October 29, 2014:

Dear Sirs,

THREAT TO KILL MR. FESTUS KEYAMO BY MR. GOVERNMENT EKPEMUPOLO (ALIAS TOMPOLO)

My name is Festus Keyamo. I am a Nigerian citizen and a senior member of the legal profession in Nigeria.

At exactly 10:13pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, I received a telephone call from one Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) with phone number 08027721208. We have been acquaintances in the past, so I know his numbers. After reaffirming that he is Tompolo when I picked his call, he went straight to the point by informing me that he wishes to inform me that he and his “boys” will kill me by beating me to death or shooting me anywhere they can find me. And that the hunt for me is on. His exact words in pidgin English was “we dey look for you. Anywhere we see you, whether for Lagos or Abuja or Warri, we go beat you die or we go shoot you.”

He said he would kill me because I have decided to take up the matter involving his blood brother, Mr. George Ekpemupolo, who was used to illegally substitute another candidate, Mr. Weyinmi Omadeli (48 hours to the election) in the Warri South-West L.G.A elections that were concluded last Saturday in Delta State. He said no one has ever challenged his authority in Delta State. Kindly find attached the open letter I wrote to Governor Uduaghan of Delta State yesterday which has sparked Tompolo’s determination to kill me.

I asked Tompolo FIVE TIMES whether, he was, in fact, threatening my life over an open line and he said nobody in the country can do anything about it by the time I am dead.

Co-incidentally, exactly three minutes after Tompolo dropped his line, His Excellency, Governor Udaughan called me at exactly 10.16pm, and I reported to him what just transpired between Tompolo and myself. The Governor promised to speak with him, but that cannot be reassuring enough, and I know the remedy in law against an intended murderer is not to beg him but to ignite the criminal justice system against him, no matter how comatose that system is.

I know the subject of this petition, Tompolo, is a favoured citizen of this government, and I am not. I know Tompolo is close to those in power at the moment, whereas I am an ordinary citizen. I know Tompolo has money and influence (which are factors that are widely acknowledged to aid a suspect walk away with murder in Nigeria), but I have none of these. I know Tompolo has instrument to kill human beings, and I have none.

In the circumstance, I am making this petition public so that when you refuse to attend to my complaint and outcry, the ordinary people of this country will, at least, know from where my death came and I will not join the long list of unresolved murders. My killer, should, at least be known.

ANAMBRA STATE HOSTS THE 11TH GULDER ULTIMATE SEARCH

The deep forest of the ancient Aguleri community in Anambra State will host the 11th edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search.

Edem Vindah, Corporate Media and Public Relations Manager, Nigerian Breweries plc, made the announcement while unveiling this year edition tagged “The Mission” during a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday.

Vindah, who stood in for Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries plc said that after the successful hosting of ninth and tenth editions of the television reality show in Usaka community in Obot Akara, Akwa Ibom State, some brave and determined young Nigerians will be going into the forest of Aguleri in Anambra East local government area for another round of search to retrieve the ‘cube’.

“For 28 days between 19 September to 16 October, we will be entertained to an original Nigerian adventure programme with international class standards.”

He noted that “Neither the nervous, faint-hearted or weak contestants will make it through the hurdles.”
This year’s entry is free and the selection process will be rigorous with a national spread. The internet-based application process commenced on 1 July and will end on 31 July.

Thousands of people will be screened in rigorous screening processes in four geographical zones across the federation. The cities are Lagos, Benin, Port Harcourt and Awka.

“There will be a final screening exercise in Lagos to produce the final set of 12 young-adult, strong, intelligent, able-bodied men and women who are determined to go the extra mile to achieve success. And the reward at the end of the search as usual will be fame and fortune,” Vindah said.

The brave individual who emerges as the winner and ‘Ultimate Man’ will be rewarded with a cash prize of N10 million, along with a brand new Ford Explorer SUV.

The other 11 participants will not go home empty-handed, as they will get various cash prizes ranging from N3 million for the first-runner-up to N1million for the 12th placed contestant.

There will be an additional cash prize of N1million for the last girl standing during the search. In addition to the cash prize, the brave lady will also drive home a brand new vehicle.

SUPER EAGLES DROPED TO 42 IN THE WORLD

Nigeria’s senior national team has dropped five places to 42nd in the latest Fifa world ranking released on Thursday.The African champions were adjudged the 38th best football playing team in the world according to the ranking released earlier in September.
The Eagles are now the ninth-ranked African side behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Egypt and Senegal following their poor run in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers earlier this month.
Their drop comes after losing 1-0 to Sudan in Khartoum after playing out a 0-0 draw in South Africa.
Meanwhile Algeria remain at the summit of African football with 989 points which put them in the 15th position in the world while Cote d’Ivoire are second in Africa and ranked 25th in the world.
Tunisia stay third on the continent after amassing 780 points which places them in the 31st spot in the world.
Germany, Argentina and Colombia hold the first, second and third spots in the world respectively as Fifa World Cup hosts Brazil retained their sixth spot in the world.
The next ranking will be released on November 27, 2014.

SOMALI ARMY KILLED OVER 80 AL-SHABAAB MILITANTS

The Kenya Defence Forces with AMISOM and Somalia National Army units killed more than 80 members of Somalia's Al-Shabaab militants in an operation in Jamaame and Magambo areas near Kismayu on Thursday (October 23), A statement said four vehicles fitted with machine guns were also destroyed.

The operation was directed against two Al-Shabaab bases which had been used to launch attacks against the newly liberated town of Bula Gaduud along the Kismayu- Jamaame-Jilib Road. According to spokesperson, Colonel David Obonyo, Kenyan troops with AMISOM and SNA forces have launched several attacks in the past few weeks killing nearly 200 Al-Shabaab fighters and recovering vehicles and arms.

Two weeks ago, at least 60 militants were killed in an operation, Bula Gaduud area.

These operations are a prelude to an AMISOM advance on Jilib one of the towns still occupied by Al-Shabaab in the Juba valley-allafrica

300 level UNIBEN STUDENT SHORT SHORT DEAD ON CAMPUS BY UNKNOWN GUNMEN

A 300 level student of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences at the University of Benin in Edo state, Ejiroghene Gbenidio (pictured above) was shot dead by unknown gunmen inside the Ugbowo campus of the school on Friday October 24th.

According to reports, Ejiro was attending the jeans carnival of the final year students of his faculty when he was accosted and shot in the head. He died instantly. 

His body has been deposited at the Benin Teaching Hospital morgue. The matter is now being handled by the police at the Ugbowo Police station.

Some students say they suspect it might have been as a result of a fallout between rival cult groups.
